ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Jupiter is the planet of good fortune in Astrology. He is often depicted in medieval and renaissance art as a wealthy patron dropping coins into the dish of a supplicant. All of our notions of plenty are connected to Jupiter. If we are blessed with good fortune in our lives then it must be because we have done good deeds. We are being rewarded for being virtuous, noble, and devout. Our equation of money with success comes from this model. How many mega churches see wealth as a sign of God’s favor? How many politicians have told us that if we would only put our faith in the wealthy and their ability to make money then their coins will wind up clanking in our upheld dishes?

Moral judgments are connected to Jupiter. If things are going well for you in life you must be doing something right, but it things aren’t going well for you then you must have done something wrong. Bad luck can’t just be bad luck. Maybe you kicked a Buddha in a past life, have a negative outlook on the world, or you’re in desperate need of character building. We make up reasons to explain away the bad because we don’t want it to upset our belief in the good and just world that is lit by Jupiter. Better to demonize the less fortunate than to believe that there could be gaps in Jupiter’s providence.

So does good fortune and favor make you a good person?

Will a strong Jupiter in your horoscope inspire you to share the wealth or will it make you double down on guarding what’s yours from grabby hands?

Will a weak Jupiter make you feel like you’ve been handed the short end of the stick and will this make you angry and jealous or will it make you more charitable and giving because you know what it’s like to be bent under the wheel?

These are some of the questions that we will be pondering in WHAT KIND OF GOD ARE YOU?

Join us for a thought provoking workshop with Christopher Renstrom.

Light refreshments provided. Please arrive early to claim a good seat, and especially if you’d like to meet other astrology enthusiasts.
