The lunar mansions are a system of asterisms based on the Moon’s nightly stops along her monthly journey. Several stargazing cultures developed their own related but unique methods of identifying and providing meaning to these asterisms, associating them with stellar deities, times of year, auspicious activities, and magical powers.
In our time together, we’ll explore some of the questions surrounding the origins and development of the mansion systems with a focus on the Arabic system that our so-called “Western” tradition of astrology has inherited.
We’ll untangle some myths, answer some questions, question some answers, and learn how to select times for creating talismans to these astral powers.

New Mexico based astrologer Ryhan Butler has studied classical astrological techniques with an emphasis on medieval astrology since 2009. Focusing primarily on the intersection of ancient medicine, magic, and astrology Ryhan has hosted a YouTube channel spotlighting upcoming elections since 2018.
